What hot-tire pickup actually is
On a hot day your tires heat up and the rubber gets slightly soft and tacky. Park on a weakly-bonded, rigid coating and the cooling tire literally grips the surface and pulls it up — you come back to crescent-shaped patches lifting right where the tires sit. That’s hot-tire pickup, and it’s the single most common way a cheap epoxy garage floor dies in Oklahoma.
Why epoxy gives in and polyurea doesn’t
Two reasons. First, bond: we diamond-grind the slab so a polyurea base coat keys deep into the concrete, while many epoxy jobs sit on top of an acid-etched surface that never bonded well to begin with. Second, flexibility: polyurea stays slightly flexible and shrugs off the grab of a hot tire, where rigid epoxy fractures and releases. Hot rubber wins against epoxy; it loses against a properly installed polyurea/polyaspartic system.
What about the sun?
